The appointee will be responsible to assist the workshop coordination. Tasks include: (a) providing workshop onsite support; (b) liaising external and internal parties for the workshop coordination and arrangement; (c) providing general administrative support preparing reports; and (d) performing other duties as assigned.

Applicants should (a) have tertiary education background, preferably have design, garment making and fashion styling experience; (b) have relevant project coordination experience is highly preferred; (c) have good communication and interpersonal skill; (d) be able to work independently, attention to detail with positive working attitude; (e) proficiency in computer applications; and (e) good command in in English and Chinese (spoken and written)

The appointee is mainly required to assist in research project entitled 'Narratives of Students with Special Educational Needs in Hong Kong: Identity, emotions and pedagogy'. The research tasks involve but not limited to reviewing literature, arranging and conducting in-depth interviews, transcribing audio recordings, analyzing data, and handling relevant administrative tasks. Appointment will be made on a contract basis for 6 months.

Applicants should (i) have a recognised Bachelor's degree or above in Applied Linguistics/ (Special) Education/ Psychology or Social Work; (ii) have relevant research experience and knowledge of qualitative research; (iii) be able to work independently, have an investigative nature, attention to detail, and an analytical aptitude; (iv) be familiar with procedures of conducting in-depth interviews and with analyzing interview data; and (v) have good communication skills and fluency in English and Chinese. Experience in conducting discourse analysis will be an advantage.

Appointees taking up these Research and Development projects will (i) conduct Research and Development work on the production of demonstration systems at industrial standard and also produce high-level research papers in international academic journals, on the above topics.

The first project is on Research and Development of Machine Learning Technologies for Applications, such as Automatic Football Commentary Systems. The second project is on the design theory of Deep Learning. The third project is on Super-Resolution of small or faint objects using deep learning.

For Research Fellow (at the level of assistant professor in research), applicants should have (i) PhD degrees in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or in related areas with the ability to conduct research independently in the above subject areas, (ii) strong technical English writing skills as evidenced by prior technical publications and (iii) good presentation skills as evidenced by prior experience to present technical papers.

For Research Associate/Research Assistant, applicants should have (i) master degree or BSc(Hons)/BEng(Hons) degree in the related areas or BSc(hons)/BEng(hons) degree with 1^st or 2.1 honors, with interest and studied subject areas in the above topics, (ii) strong intention to become a professional in Machine Learning. 

Note: (1) For PhD holders with insufficient experience in the subject area or without a sufficiently good related publication record may join the research initially as a Research Associate. (2) Appropriate candidates with a bachelor or master degree may be supported by the Institute to register for a PhD degree with a local or overseas university.

The appointee is required to conduct research project related to the clinical validation of assessment scales. Appointment will be made on a contract basis for 6 months, renewable subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or above in Physiotherapy, Exercise Science or related discipline. Preference will be given to those with solid experience in clinical trials.

The appointee will assist the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigators. His/her task will include (i) arranging and assisting to conduct interviews & focus groups as well as collecting quantitative data; (ii) conducting data analysis of the verbatim transcription with software e.g., Nvivo  Atlas.ti and/or quantitative data with SPSS ; (iii) assisting in drafting operational manuals, training materials, forms, templates and reports; (iv) drafting research manuscripts and other presentation materials for presentation/publication in conferences/journals; (v) performing other tasks as assigned.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree, preferably with a Master's/MPhil degree in Social Sciences or a related discipline; (ii) solid training and experience in research methods, especially in qualitative data analysis; (iii) excellent English and Chinese proficiency.

An appointment may initially be made on a contract basis for 1 year commencing July 2023, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.

Research Professor / Research Associate Professor / Research Assistant Professor (4 posts): the appointees will be responsible for various tasks relating to the Chinese culture project, which include (a) coordinating research design; (b) overseeing data collection and analysis; (c) writing academic publications and reports; (d) editing book series and academic journals; (e) teaching courses in language, culture, general education, or translation technology; and (f) performing other duties as assigned.

Technician (2 posts): the appointees will (a) assist the work of system construction and maintenance of the project; (b) help with the teaching of computer-related courses of the programmes of the School; and (c) perform other duties as assigned.

Research Assistant (6 posts): the appointees will (a) assist the work of painting, drawing, animation, video production, and photography relating to the Chinese culture project; (b) assist the work of data collection and analysis; and (c) perform other duties as assigned.

Research Professor / Research Associate Professor / Research Assistant Professor: Applicants should have (a) a doctoral degree in the humanities, computer science, or other related fields; (b) strong background in research; (c) ability to work independently; (d) proficiency in writing in English and Chinese; (e) proficiency in communication and presentation skills; and (f) ability to teach language, culture, general education, or translation technology courses.

Research Assistant: Applicants should have (a) a bachelor's degree or master's degree in the humanities or relevant fields; (b) knowledge and skills of computer graphics; and (c) have good communication skills and sense of responsibility.

Technician: Applicants should have (a) a bachelor's degree or master's degree in computer science or relevant fields; (b) familiarity with database management tools (such as SQL, MS Access, etc.); (c) knowledge and skills of programming (such as Python); (d) proficiency in image technology; and (e) able to work independently.

The appointee is required to conduct research project related to the mechanisms involved in feeding and general homeostasis as secondary measures affected by nausea and vomiting. Appointment will be made on a contract basis for 6 months, renewable subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or above in Pharmacology, Biomedical Science or a related discipline. Preference will be given to those with solid experience in animal surgical procedures, histological and molecular techniques.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The appointee will be responsible for assisting the research in one of the following FDS projects:

1) Deep Comic Screening via Tone-aware Semantic Layer Analysis [UGC/FDS11/E01/21]

2) Chinese Calligraphic Animation Generation via Deep Stroke Segmentation and Contour-based Trajectory Identification [UGC/FDS11/E03/22]

The tasks include preparing training dataset, implementing the designed algorithms, performing ablation and comparison experiments, and conducting user studies, etc.

Appointment will be made on a contract basis for 6-12 months commencing at earliest convenience.

Applicants should (i) have completed the second year in a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplines; (ii) have experience in deep learning or image processing research and be able to work independently; (iii) be able to develop deep learning applications using the deep learning libraries, e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.; and (iv) have good communication and interpersonal skills. Applicants with publication experience are preferred.

The appointee is required to assist in research project 'Promotion of Holistic Health Studies in Higher Education: Efficacy of BMS intervention and association factors of holistic health'. The research tasks include literature review, quantitative and qualitative data collection, data entry, data analysis, relevant arrangements of focus groups and in-depth interviews, and other relevant administrative tasks.  Appointment will be made on a part-time basis.

Applicants should (i) have a recognised Bachelor's degree in sciences or social sciences; (ii) have relevant research experience and knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research; (iii) be able to work independently, have an investigative nature, attention to detail, and an analytical aptitude; (iv) be familiar with the computer and understanding of quantitative  and qualitative data analysis, be willing to learn new techniques of data analysis; and (v) have good communication skills and fluency in English and Chinese.

The appointee will assist the Principal Investigator in the UGC funded project - "Chaotized Plasma for actively combating airborne COVID19"

The appointee will (i) perform bacteria test-culture preparation, bacteria collection, incubation, colony counting, and reporting; (ii) assemble electronic components into AC/DC electric fans; (iii) design plastic moulds by 3D printer and communicate to manufacturers for quantity production; (iv) in-situ test in care homes and record the body temperature and SPO2 for care home residents; (v) produce a platform to record the vital sign data; and (vi) program PCB for optimal motor speed.

Applicants should (i) have a recognised Diploma/Bachelor Degree in a medical-related field, with post-graduate degree in Information Technology is highly preferred; (ii) have strong and relevant experience and knowledge in IOT and AI programming; (iii) good experience in care home services is an advantage; and (iv) have good communication skills and fluency in English and Chinese.

Tasks include: (a) coordinating research design, (b) liaising with industrial parties and institutions; (c) organizing seminars and workshops; (d) overseeing data collection, analysis and management; (e) writing academic publications and reports; (f) editing book series, newsletter and journal; (g) teaching courses in the humanities; (h) performing other duties as assigned.

Research Assistant: Applicants should have a) a bachelor's degree or master's degree in relevant fields; b) familiarity with database management tools (such as SQL, MS Access, etc.); (c) knowledge of programming tools (such as Python and C++) would be a plus; d) have good communication skills and sense of responsibility.

Research Associate / Research Fellow: Applicants should have a) a doctoral degree in the humanities, computer science or other related disciplines; b) strong background in research methodology; (c) able to work independently; d) proficiency in writing and speaking in English and Chinese; (e) have good communication and presentation skills.

The appointee will be responsible to assist various tasks for the research projects. Tasks include: (a) programming and developing technologies for research projects; (b) provide supports for the research activities of the School; (c) assisting teaching activities by demonstrating the use of tools and equipment in the laboratory; (d) maintaining the computing equipment and facilities in the laboratory; (e) performing other duties as assigned.

Applicants should have a) a bachelor's or master's degree in computing or relevant fields; b) experience in laboratory management; (c) good team player with positive attitude; d) have good communication skills and sense of responsibility.

The appointee will be responsible for (i) coordinating the training programmes; (ii) coordinating students' learning activities; (iii) liaise with external parties about our training programmes; (iv) provide administrative support; and (v) performing any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School of Health Sciences or his delegates.

The appointee is required to work as a team member in conducting research studies within the School of Social Sciences.
