Biography

WONG Yu-cheung (PhD) is professor at the Felizberta Lo Padilla Tong School of Social Sciences of Saint Francis University, which he joined this August 2019 after reaching retirement age at the Department of Social Work of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He teaches Social policy, Research, Programme Evaluation, and Information technology in social services. He has involved in a number of large scale research projects on parenting issues in digital era (Hong Kong and Shanghai), social security and retirement protection policy reviews (Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai), long-term care planning in Macau, programme review on street sleepers, social services in urban renewal projects, mental health services, measuring digital divide in Hong Kong, and urban renewal strategies review. He has extensive experience in managing postgraduate programmes in taught master and research degrees (HKU, CUHK, Fudan University, Shanghai), and over ten PhD students has graduated under his supervision at HKU and CUHK. He has been serving on a number of committees related to policy, research and advocacy, elderly service, information technology on the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. He is also the Chief Editor of the Policy Bulletin published by the Council. He is now sitting and chairing a number of committees in several large scale NGOs on information technology as well as youth service, and serves as external examiners, programme advisors of serval local social work training programmes at various levels. He has extensive local media appearance on issues related to retirement protection and long-term care service planning.
