CIHE co-organising Youth-Technology competition in resounding success

Caritas Institute of Higher Education (CIHE) had been invited to be the co-organiser of the "Youth Innovation and Technology Future Community Planning Competition 2023." (YITFPC 2023 / The competition) brings a new experience of integrating innovative technology, interactive STEAM education, youth development blueprints, future community planning, and caring1 inclusiveness to multiple local secondary schools.

 

The competition is organised by the VQ Foundation with the theme of "Caring for the Elderly, Children, Ethnic Minorities, or Underprivileged". Participating schools were requested to visit various social welfare organisations, innovation and technology industry, and youth development workshops. Student then needed to present their works in short video presentations and complete reports, aiming to inspire students' understanding of the innovation and technology industry and community needs. It also aims to cultivate students' project management, public speaking skills, and collaboration skills, promoting youth development in the long run.

 

Treasuring the values of cultivating young people by providing professional training and quality education to serve the community and enable them to contribute back to society. CIHE gladly accepted the invitation to co-organise the competition. Throughout the three-month competition, Schools and Departments of CIHE held a series of activities for participating students. These included enlightenment talks delivered by Professor Anthony CHAN, Dean of the School of Computing and Information Science, and Mr Samson CHOW, Lecturer from Felizberta Lo Padilla Tong School of Social Sciences, on the topics of development of the artificial intelligence industry, social care, innovative technology, and youth for the participants. While the School of Health Sciences also provided an immersive VR learning experiences and taster sessions to the latest, high-tech healthcare learning equipment to the participants. While various visiting activities including visits to CIHE Campus, visits to Caritas Jockey Club Resource and Support Centre for Carers were organised by the Public Affairs Office.  Mr Dominic LEE, Associate Director (Admission, Career and Public Affairs) also took the voluntary role in giving lectures on life planning and expression abilities and took part as the voluntary judge in encouraging the students.

CIHE joined hand with VQ Foundation in organising the YITFPC 2023. CIHE organised a series of activities to the participants, including visit to Caritas Jockey Club Resource and Support Centre for Carers. Prof Anthony CHAN giving lectures to the participants in explaining the development of the AI Industry. Mr Samson CHOW, Lecturer from Felizberta Lo Padilla Tong School of Social Sciences, shared his insights on social care, innovative technology, and youth-related issues to the participating students. School of Health Sciences provided medical education equipment experiencing session to the participants. VR Immersive learning experience was provided by the School of Health Sciences. Mr Dominic LEE, Associate Director (Admissions, Career and Public Affairs), provided guidance for the participating students. Mr Dominic LEE, Associate Director (Admissions, Career and Public Affairs) be the voluntary judge in encouraging the students.
