Congratulations to Prof. K.H. Chan from Rita Tong Liu School of Business and Hospitality Management on being ranked as a Top 5 researcher world-wide on Accounting and Finance research on China!

Academic research in Accounting and Finance in the past had focused on issues arising from the U.S. and other Western countries. However, this situation has changed about 20 years ago as China's economy and financial markets have become increasingly important.

Professor Chan was one of the pioneers to capture this trend and focuses his research on China-based Accounting research because he believes in the future of the Chinese economy and that China-based research is more relevant for Hong Kong and the region.

Professor Chan has since published many significant research papers in Top-Tier and highly respectable academic research journals. He has also been awarded numerous external competitive research grants on China-based Accounting research. In a 2018 research article published in Abacus, Professor was ranked as a Top 5 researcher world-wide on Accounting and Finance research on China.

Professor Chan obtained his bachelor's degree in Accountancy from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He then furthered his graduate studies in the U.S. with a master's degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and PhD in Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University. He is also a Fellow (FCPA) of the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs. Professor Chan was J.K. Lee Chair Professor of Accountancy at Lingnan University (Hong Kong) for 16 years before joining Caritas School of Business and Hospitality Management.
