Saint Francis University - University titling: FAQ for Applicants

1. When does the university title take effect?

The Chief Executive in Council approved the university status of Caritas Institute of Higher Education (CIHE) on 9 January 2024. CIHE is now renamed "Saint Francis University" in English and “聖方濟各大學” in Chinese.

2. How should I apply for the programmes offered by Saint Francis University?

You can apply for Taught Postgraduate, Undergraduate and Sub-degree programmes offered by Saint Francis University via the Admission Portal, JUPAS or E-APP.

3. If I have submitted application(s) to Caritas Institute of Higher Education for the AY2024-25 intake, do I need to re-submit the application to Saint Francis University?

No. You can use the original application number to check the application status and upload the latest supporting documents via the Admission Portal.

4. Can I modify programme choice(s) and priority of submitted application after the titling of Caritas Institute of Higher Education?

Applicants are not allowed to change the programme choice(s) and priority after the submission of application. If you need any assistance, please email to Registry.

5. Are there any changes to the general admission requirements of programmes offered by Saint Francis University after the titling?

No. The general admission requirement remains unchanged.

6. Can Mainland, Macau and Taiwan applicants apply for Taught Postgraduate / Undergraduate programme offered by Saint Francis University?

Saint Francis University currently does not accept applications from Mainland, Macau and Taiwan applicants for admission to the Taught Postgraduate and Undergraduate Programmes. Future updates will be provided as appropriate. Applicants are welcome to apply for the Sub-degree Programmes offered by the University or Caritas Bianchi College of Careers.

7. Does Saint Francis University recognise my "Conditional Offer" for AY2024-25 intake issued under Caritas Institute of Higher Education?

The "Conditional Offer" issued by Caritas Institute of Higher Education for the AY2024-25 intake is recognised by Saint Francis University. You do not need to apply for a new "Conditional Offer" letter after titling.

8. Does Saint Francis University recognise my "Firm Offer" for AY2024-25 intake issued under Caritas Institute of Higher Education?

The "Firm Offer" issued by Caritas Institute of Higher Education for the 2024-25 intake is recognised by Saint Francis University. You do not need to apply for a new "Firm Offer" letter after titling.

9. Does Saint Francis University adopt flexible admission arrangement in JUPAS admission for HKDSE applicants?

No. JUPAS applicants are required to meet the specific admission requirement of each JUPAS programme. Please refer to SFU website or JUPAS website for more details.

10. Will Saint Francis University consider applications from the School Nominations Direct Admission Scheme (SNADS) co-ordinated by the Education Bureau?

No. Saint Francis University does not participate in the School Nominations Direct Admission Scheme (SNADS) currently.

11. Are there any adjustments on tuition fee of programmes offered by Saint Francis University for AY2024-25 intake after titling?

No. The tuition fee for Programmes offered by Saint Francis University has no changes after titling for the 2024-25 intake.

12. Are SSSDP/NMTSS programmes offered by Caritas Institute of Higher Education remains subsidised after titling?

Yes. Selected programmes offered by Saint Francis University continue to be subsidised in AY2024-25 cohort.

13. Are programmes offered by Saint Francis University eligible to apply for financial assistance or loan schemes with the Student Finance Office of WFSFAA?

Yes. Eligible programmes offered by Saint Francis University continue to be recognised by the Student Finance Office of WFSFAA for applying for financial assistance and/or loan schemes.

14. How is the accreditation status of Saint Francis University's programmes?

All the programmes of Saint Francis University have been accredited and are listed on the Qualifications Registry; both their academic qualification and status are recognized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government.

15. The graduation certificates for students admitted to the University in AY2024-25 will be issued under which granting body?

The Graduation Certificates for AY2024-25 intake students will be issued under the new title of 'Saint Francis University'.
